Modder-researcher under the nickname clonetrooper163 recently published a lengthy gameplay recording of the shooter Star Wars Battlefront III. This is a canceled project that was launched with the help of artificial intelligence.
Previously, a leak of build r89610 occurred. Tech enthusiasts scanned drives and found traces of game data. The capabilities of the Claude neural network were used to perform the recovery operation:
[...] I asked Claude to check [the drives] to find deleted files or anything that rvthtool might have missed. As a result, a build was found that was mostly deleted, but from the header and FST, it became clear that its file and folder structure almost completely matched build r904. Unfortunately, with only the files, it wouldn't launch. However, after working with Claude, we managed to get it running. This build was compiled around August 2008 – this is evident from the timestamp in the main.dol code.
clonetrooper163 said that there is practically nothing in the frontend (presentation part) of this build:
No animated characters or vehicles, unlike later builds. The campaign is mostly unplayable: cutscenes don't trigger or you can't control the character after them. The game often crashes or freezes, while the sound continues. When cutscenes play, characters and the camera jerk violently back and forth, after which the game crashes.
The mini-map and various gameplay mechanics work:
To launch build r89610, you will have to perform non-trivial actions: "You need to copy the profile from other builds, because this one uses profile 32 instead of 33 (as in r911), so just copy and rename 33 to 32 - 'creating a new profile' doesn't work." In addition, special settings for the Dolphin emulator will be required (the modder published them in the description of the video).
