ASRock introduced the Radeon RX 9050 Challenger in two versions – with 8GB and only 4GB of VRAM. The latter will only be available in pre-built OEM computers and has already drawn criticism due to the insufficient memory capacity.
In 2026, graphics cards with 4GB of VRAM appear outdated – this amount is not enough even for many modern esports games. Moreover, even the 8GB version will not be able to confidently handle new AAA projects.
The Radeon RX 9050 will be the most affordable model in the RDNA 4 series. The card features 16 compute units, 1024 stream processors, a base clock of 1920 MHz, and a boost clock of up to 2600 MHz. Its performance is approximately half that of the RX 9060 XT – about 5.3 TFLOPS in FP32.
The 8GB version uses GDDR6 memory with a 128-bit bus, while the 4GB model received a cut-down 64-bit bus.
The first computers with the Radeon RX 9050 4GB have appeared for sale in the USA – the price of the graphics card has not yet been announced. Previously, manufacturers were criticized for reintroducing old GPUs as new solutions.
