Resident Evil 2 Remake has become the best-selling game in the series' history. According to new data from Capcom, the remake has sold 19.75 million copies, surpassing Resident Evil 5, which held the top spot for over 17 years.

The good news for the company doesn't end there. Total sales of Resident Evil games have exceeded 213 million copies. Thanks to this, the franchise has surpassed not only the Wii series but also Final Fantasy, whose total sales amount to 212 million copies.

This achievement allowed Resident Evil to climb to ninth place in the list of the best-selling game series in industry history. The franchise also became the most successful in sales among gaming brands created by an independent Japanese publisher.
