GOG Heard Players: GOG Galaxy Client to Get Native Linux Support

News 0

The digital distribution platform GOG has announced the development of a native Linux version of the GOG Galaxy client. Until now, users had to rely on third-party solutions such as Heroic Games Launcher.

The company reported that a specialist has already joined the team to port the application to the new platform, and work on the project has already begun.

GOG co-lead Krzysztof Papliński noted that Linux support was one of the most frequent user requests. Release dates have not yet been disclosed, but the project has become one of the priority areas for the service's development.

The Linux version of GOG Galaxy will receive all the main features of the Windows client, including achievement synchronization, game time tracking, and the unification of libraries from other digital stores.

GOG also emphasized that creating a stable version of the application for Linux will require significant engineering effort and time.
