The Last of Us Part II on PlayStation never received official multiplayer. However, with the release of the Remastered version of the game on PC, there is hope that this will be rectified by the fan community.
Modder Speclizer continues to work on unofficial multiplayer for TLOU Part II. Recently, he published a new teaser on social media and addressed players:
Today we reached a major milestone in the development of the multiplayer mod for The Last of Us Part II: it is now possible to host "4v4" lobby matches; previously, only "1v1" duels were possible. Here are some highlights from our "2v2" matches!
You can watch the gameplay teaser at the following link.
Some discussion participants, like beesechurger67, express the opinion that Sony missed a potential hit: "This could have been Sony's biggest live-service game if they had refined and released [multiplayer]."
Earlier, Speclizer published another devlog – showing the combat mechanics of his multiplayer.
While the unofficial TLOU Part II multiplayer does not yet have a release date, Speclizer continues to develop the project.
