Sony has published its financial report and revealed new data on PlayStation game sales. The company confirmed business growth and showed how popular digital distribution has become.
By June 2026, PS5 sales reached 95.3 million units. From April to June, Sony shipped another 1.6 million consoles. The gaming division brought the company 937.1 billion yen (about $6.4 billion) in revenue, and operating profit grew by 37%, reaching 54.1 billion yen (about $370 million).
The main indicator concerns game sales. Sony reported that 82% of all games sold for PS4 and PS5 were digital versions. The statistics included projects with both physical and digital editions, as well as games available only on the PlayStation Store.
The company continues to develop the digital model, despite criticism from some players who demand more frequent disc releases.
Sony also reported that the number of active PlayStation users reached a record 125 million people in June. Time spent in games decreased by 4% compared to last year, although the company notes high interest in major projects and new releases.
