Electronic Arts officially transfers to new owners - $55 billion deal completed

Electronic Arts is preparing to transfer to the control of a new consortium of investors led by the Saudi Investment Fund.

Electronic Arts has confirmed the completion of all necessary procedures for the sale of the company. The deal to acquire the publisher is expected to close on August 4, 2026, after the end of trading on the stock exchange.

After the deal closes, EA will cease to be a public company and will come under the control of a consortium that includes the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners. The deal is valued at $55 billion, and shareholders will receive $210 for each share.

The Saudi fund will not be the sole owner of EA and will remain a key part of the investor group. The deal will be the largest leveraged buyout in history and one of the largest financial transactions in the gaming industry.

After the acquisition, EA will retain its headquarters in Redwood City, and Andrew Wilson will remain CEO. There are no signs of immediate changes in the company's operations yet.

EA's portfolio includes EA Sports FC, Battlefield, The Sims, Apex Legends, Need for Speed, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Titanfall, Skate, Madden NFL, and the F1 series. Now, the development of these franchises, including EA Sports FC 27 and future Battlefield games, will proceed under the control of the new owners.
