Capcom successfully brought back Resident Evil 2 in a remake format a few years ago, but some players are still drawn to the original version of the survival horror game. Almost 30 years have passed since its release, and the graphics are far from modern standards, but new technologies are helping to fix this drawback.
A new version of the RE:Enhance modification was recently released. A tech enthusiast uses AI-based tools to update the classic Resident Evil 2. These technologies help improve the quality of pre-rendered backgrounds, as well as other images, such as character portraits. More detailed doors and several object textures have appeared.
Modder SonicB00M also reported that technology has finally reached a level where scene consistency has been achieved. Previously, what looked good up close often appeared blurry in the overall shot. However, now backgrounds are “consistent from frame to frame.” For example, a statue in the police station will have the same facial features and details from all angles.

Earlier, Capcom released the classic version of RE2 on PC via Steam under the name “Resident Evil 2 (1998)”. It is currently 50% off until August 3rd.
