Logitech confirmed that starting February 2027, wireless mice sold in European Union countries will receive user-replaceable batteries. The changes are related to new EU battery requirements.
The innovation will only affect the European market. In other regions, the company will continue to sell models with non-removable bodies.
To comply with new safety regulations, Logitech will abandon lightweight soft-shell batteries and switch to more durable hard-cased power cells, protected from accidental damage.
However, increased reparability will come at the cost of increased device weight and higher production costs. For many gamers who value Logitech mice for their light weight, this could be a significant drawback.
The company admitted that the changes are dictated solely by legislation, not by the request of the majority of customers. According to Logitech representatives, owners of mid-range devices rarely replace batteries themselves and more often prefer to buy a new mouse.
