5 Million Players in 22 Days. Subnautica 2 Becomes a Huge Success

News 0

In 22 days, Subnautica 2 has sold over 5 million copies on PC and Xbox Series X|S. The game's launch was particularly impressive, with 4 million sales occurring within the first five days after release.

Publisher Krafton does not intend to view this result as a one-off success. In its financial report, the company stated that it wants to turn Subnautica into a full-fledged, long-term franchise.

Currently, the main tasks remain improving quality, maintaining player trust, and bringing the game to version 1.0. At the same time, the developers plan to expand the project – developing co-op and adding new features without changing the core of the series.

Such a successful start is particularly notable against the backdrop of recent issues surrounding Unknown Worlds studio, including changes in management and conflicts with the owner. However, both sides state their intention to focus on the further development of the game.

Subnautica 2 is still in early access, but Krafton already views it not as a standalone project, but as the foundation for a franchise that can develop for many years.
