John Linneman of Digital Foundry believes that the current generation of consoles is one of the best in history. In his opinion, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S provide the best level of fluidity since the 16-bit systems, while the PC market is increasingly facing technical problems.
In a series of social media posts, the expert noted that today most games on consoles run at 60 frames per second, which was not the norm just a few years ago. He called the frame rate the main advantage of the current generation.
According to Linneman, the perception of the technical side of games depends on three factors: frame rate, image quality, and graphics effects. He believes that PS5 and Xbox Series X handle performance and modern technologies well, although they often lag behind PCs in image clarity.
At the same time, the expert regrets the state of the PC market. According to him, more and more players are complaining about poor optimization of new releases. If earlier computers were considered the best platform for performance, now stable operation is often easier to achieve on consoles.
