Plans for TESO had to be adjusted.

This summer, Microsoft (Xbox) had another round of layoffs, which also affected ZeniMax Online Studios. Against this backdrop, rumors began to spread that a decision had been made to gradually wind down the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online.

Recently, TESO Game Director Nick Giacomini confirmed that "organizational changes" and "the departure of some colleagues" affected the release schedule of new content. But there are no plans to close the game itself:

We've seen a lot of questions about what these changes mean for ESO. So I'll say it directly: ESO isn't going anywhere, and our team remains committed to the future of this game. Our focus hasn't changed. We will continue to develop The Elder Scrolls Online and expand the world that millions of players call home.

Currently, The Elder Scrolls Online developers are reviewing their plans. The release of the Crimson Veldt trial has been postponed to 2027: "We are pushing boundaries in this trial, including mounted combat, which we think you'll enjoy, and we need more time to ensure the gameplay experience exceeds your expectations."

Update 52 is scheduled for release in January 2027. It is planned to include the Jerall Pas PvP zone and other content. The class and combat system update is also being postponed to next year.
