In February of this year, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined was released on consoles and PC via Steam. Square Enix protected the game with the infamous Denuvo system — there is an opinion that it negatively affects performance.

Six months later, the publisher decided to remove the DRM from Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. Players noticed the disappearance of Denuvo after a recent update. Users on the Steam forum thanked Square Enix for abandoning the protection.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is a JRPG, centered around the story of a young, bright-eyed fisherman's son who has lived his entire life on the peaceful island of Estard:

Your journey begins with a simple question: is there anything in the world beyond this tiny island kingdom? In an attempt to answer this question, you and your childhood friends discover the Shrine of Mysteries and travel back in time. There you learn a shocking truth: all surrounding lands are separated by a barrier erected by some sinister force.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined received "very positive" reviews from players on Steam, with an 89% rating after almost 3 thousand reviews.
