World of Warcraft ported to Unreal Engine 5 - fans prepare for Unreal Azeroth release
World of Warcraft has been on the market for many years, and some fans believe it's high time to update the game engine and improve the graphics. Some enthusiasts are trying to do this with the Unreal Azeroth project.
The classic World of Warcraft has been ported to the modern Unreal Engine 5. Modders promise integrated proximity voice chat and stated that the project will run on PCs with:
- Windows 7 64bit, Linux, or Mac OS;
- An Intel Core i3-2100 or AMD A6-3600 level processor;
- An integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics card and 3 GB of RAM will suffice.
The Unreal Azeroth trailer with the release date received many positive reviews from players. However, some expressed the opinion that Blizzard Entertainment's lawyers would soon come for the developers.
Unreal Azeroth is scheduled for release on August 15, 2026, but such projects carry the risk of DMCA (copyright infringement).
The modders have big plans: if the project is not shut down, a mobile Android client with an adapted interface, VR support, and other improvements will follow.
