The peaceful life in Pokémon Pokopia is about to get more exciting. The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, and Koei Tecmo have revealed details of the first part of the paid Expansion Pass, as well as a major free update. Both will be released on August 5, 2026, on Nintendo Switch 2.
The main new feature of the Bubbly Basin expansion will be an underwater city. Players will be able to use Pokémon abilities to grow plants, power mechanisms, and turn on lighting. New Pokémon, costumes, smoothies, and an upgrade for the Surf ability will appear in the game. It will also be possible to explore dark depths, build multi-level structures using floating blocks, and create a Sharpedo-style submarine, turning it into your own base.
On the same day, game owners will receive a free update 2.0.0. It will allow them to learn the Dive ability from Manaphy, swim alongside water Pokémon, and build underwater.
This is the first of three parts of the Expansion Pass. The second will be released in late 2026 and will add accessories for Pokémon and new furniture items.
