
GTA: Vice City Gets VR Support with Hand Tracking - Thanks to a Modder
Players will be able to complete missions in VR.
Recently, a developer under the nickname dubrovskiy-yevhen-stakelogic introduced a modification that allows playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in virtual reality.
The creator of Vice City VR said that this unofficial VR version of the game adds full stereoscopic VR with 6DoF (degrees of freedom). Hand movements will be tracked, and "physical interaction with weapons" will be available. Players will be able to control menus and vehicles in VR. Players will be able to complete the story campaign.
Some features of Vice City VR:
- Tracked VR hands with customizable calibration.
- One- and two-handed weapon control available; there are "physical" sights, holsters, and weapon transfer from hand to hand.
- Optional physical magazine reloading for supported weapon models.
- Improved draw distance, lighting, weather, rain, reflections, and visual effects.
- Multiple anti-aliasing and image quality options in the PCVR version.

The developer published the source code of the "vice-city-vr" project in open access on GitHub in the "dubrovskiy-yevhen-stakelogic" repository. Work on the project is ongoing.
