Yoshi and the Mysterious Book Developers: Original Switch Couldn't Handle Our Ideas
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book was initially developed for Nintendo Switch. During production, the project was moved to Nintendo Switch 2.
In an interview with Nintendo Dream magazine, producers Etsunobu Ebisu and Hisashi Nogami, as well as director Masahiro Yamamoto, stated that the transition to Switch 2 did not change the project's concept, but rather allowed them to implement ideas that were not possible on the previous device.
The developers noted that the increased performance significantly improved graphical detail and almost completely removed limitations on the number of creatures simultaneously on screen. Larger characters and enemies appeared in the game. One example is the giant monster Thudd, capable of swallowing Yoshi and absorbing water.
According to the Good-Feel team, the increase in object scale was a visual improvement and allowed for the implementation of new gameplay mechanics that were previously difficult to achieve.
