Developers explained why Silent Hill: Townfall was moved to Scotland

Silent Hill: Townfall will be the first game in the series set on the coast of Scotland. Director John McKellan explained why Screen Burn studio abandoned Silent Hill town in favor of a new location.

If you've ever been to Scotland, you know it's full of monsters and fog, so we thought it was a pretty fitting place.

McKellan then explained that the team aimed to create a city that looked believable. According to him, players should believe that such a place could actually exist and feel a connection to its inhabitants and their history.

The director noted that the studio is located in Scotland, so it was easier for them to authentically recreate a familiar environment than an American city that the developers never knew as well. He added that the choice of setting is important for the plot, though he did not disclose details.
