Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts have shut down Apex Legends servers for the original Nintendo Switch. As announced, the game version ceased operation on August 4, 2026.
Connecting to the servers is no longer possible, although user accounts and all in-game progress have been saved.
The developers announced the end of support back in January. Season 29 was the last major update for the original Nintendo Switch, and with the release of Season 30, development for this version of the game ceased. However, Apex Legends continues to receive updates on Nintendo Switch 2 alongside other platforms.
Players will not lose progress or purchased items. All data is stored in the EA account, so upon logging into the same account on Nintendo Switch 2, cosmetic items, unlocked legends, Apex Coins (in accordance with regional rules), and achievements will automatically transfer.
The sale of premium currency for the original Nintendo Switch version has also been discontinued. Since Apex Legends requires a constant connection to servers, the game can no longer be launched after their shutdown.
