Microsoft released a launch trailer for Halo: Campaign Evolved featuring press scores, reminding everyone of the warm reception the remake received from specialized publications. At the same time, on Metacritic, the game faced a wave of negative user reviews.
In the video, the company quotes major media outlets. For example, Polygon called Halo: Campaign Evolved "one of the best remakes in history." Journalists highly praised the graphics on Unreal Engine 5, the careful recreation of the campaign, and the preservation of the spirit of the classic Bungie shooter. Digital Foundry also spoke positively about the scale of the technical modernization.
The remake was released on July 28 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. In addition to updated graphics, it received new gameplay elements and additional content. However, reviewers noted performance issues on consoles, although these did not significantly affect the final scores.
At the same time, the game was subjected to an attack of negative ratings on Metacritic, which is why the user rating differs significantly from the press scores.
