GTA VI is changing the gaming industry. Developers postponed the game to play Rockstar's hit themselves
The release of Grand Theft Auto 6 is affecting the plans of the entire gaming industry. Many publishers are trying to avoid competition with Rockstar's new game, which is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026.
The creators of Danganronpa 2x2 decided to approach the situation with humor and admitted that they postponed the release not only to refine the game, but also to calmly play GTA VI themselves.
In an interview with Crunchyroll, producer Shohei Sakakibara said that the team needed additional time to improve the project. He also noted that "a certain AAAA-game" is being released near their release, with which the studio did not want to compete. When asked if he was referring to GTA VI, the developers immediately confirmed it.
Danganronpa series creator Kazutaka Kodaka said with a smile:
I wouldn't have time to create a game while playing GTA VI, so postponing the release was inevitable.
Although the words sounded like a joke, they reflect the situation in the industry. Developers understand that GTA VI will attract the attention of players, media, and streamers for a long time, so many companies are changing their release plans.
