100 hours free. Final Fantasy XIV released on Switch 2, but players advise against buying the game

Final Fantasy XIV is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, giving even more players access to one of the most popular MMORPGs of recent years. Fans advise against rushing to buy the full version.

The free trial version takes up about 117 GB and includes the entire base campaign A Realm Reborn and three major expansions: Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers. It also has no time limit – players can calmly go through the story and develop their character without a subscription.

The trial version restricts some social functions: trading, Market Board, Free Companies, PvP, and housing purchases. Also, 18 classes are available instead of 22, and the maximum level is limited to 80.

Fans recommend playing the free version first, as once you purchase the Starter Edition or Complete Edition and use the 30 days of subscription, you cannot return to the Trial.

One player wrote:

Do not buy any of the editions yet. Download the free trial version, which allows you to play through the main story and expansions without any time limit.

Many consider the free option the best first step – it allows for tens or even hundreds of hours of gameplay without cost.
