Although the specialized smartphone controller 8BitDo FlipPad is now scheduled to ship starting August 15, 2026, instead of July 30–31, the developers have released a new trailer for this new product.

This device wraps around the bottom of the phone, turning it into a basic emulation device. The FlipPad has classic buttons, a D-pad, as well as L1/R1 and L2/R2, located on the front panel and acting as “bumpers” and “triggers.”
The controller is equipped with a USB-C connector that plugs into the smartphone's port. The FlipPad features a hinge that will appeal to fans of classic 90s flip phones and is rated for over 6,000 open and close cycles. The USB-C connector is rated for over 10,000 connection cycles.
The 8BitDo FlipPad weighs 31.5 grams and is compatible with both iOS (version 16.2 and above) and Android (version 13 and above). Dimensions: 96.5 × 29 × 102.5 mm. The official store currently sells the device for $29.99 (2408 rubles).
