GTA VI Overturns Publishers' Plans: PS5 and Other Platforms to Be Hit by a Wave of High-Profile Premieres

There will be no traditional "dead season" in the gaming industry in 2026. PS5 owners and other platforms can expect three months with a record number of releases - such a tight schedule hasn't been seen in a long time.

Dozens of AAA projects and indie games will be released in the coming months. The premiere calendar is so tightly packed that it will test not only players' free time but also their wallets.

The main reason cited is the November release of GTA VI. Most publishers are trying to avoid competition with the new Rockstar Games title, so they are massively moving their projects to earlier dates.
