On August 6, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be released, and for the first time in a long while, a major PlayStation game will launch without full reviews before its release.
Unlike most major Sony releases, journalists did not receive press copies in advance. The reason is related to the project's online focus – servers will only become active on the release day. Because of this, press representatives will begin testing simultaneously with regular players.
Full reviews will not appear until several days later. Editorial teams will need to check server stability, connection quality, matchmaking performance, and the online mode under real load.
Journalists also need to complete the story campaign, explore all modes, the roster of fighters, and the combat system. Some characters, including Deadpool, were not available for full testing before release, so the first complete reviews are expected only early next week.
The absence of reviews before release might raise concerns, but Sony previously conducted an open beta, allowing players to evaluate part of the gameplay themselves.
