Free-to-play The Division Resurgence released on Steam - one of Ubisoft's worst releases in decades by player rating

The franchise returned with a new installment, but there are questions about its quality.

Ubisoft Entertainment not only continues to support Tom Clancy's The Division 2 but also further develops the franchise. In early August, The Division Resurgence was released on PC via Steam — mobile device owners and Ubisoft Connect users had previously been able to access the game.

The Division Resurgence is not a premium game, but a free-to-play one. It is positioned as a looter-shooter with RPG elements, tactical combat, and a “deep progression system.” In addition, the authors promise an exclusive storyline that will be included in the series' canon.

According to the plot, players are invited to take on the role of a National Security Special Forces agent, deployed during the chaos that ensued after the outbreak of a deadly epidemic. The fighters will have to fight for New York:

Every battle is a test where positioning, timing, and teamwork are crucial. Move between covers, flank enemies, use skills and gadgets to turn the tide in your favor. The right choice of approach and means will decide the outcome of the battle.

The Division Resurgence received “mixed” reviews on Steam — players don't understand why developers ported a free-to-play looter-shooter from mobile devices to PC. According to some, “a mobile game should stay on mobile devices.”

According to the SteamDB rating (formula for calculation differs from Valve's store), The Division Resurgence has a score of 41.42%.
