Take-Two presented a report for the financial quarter that ended on June 30. Net revenue (Non-GAAP) reached $1.39 billion — a 2.7% decrease from last year's figure ($1.42 billion).
It is noted that the net loss under GAAP (accounting standard) amounted to approximately $34 million, or 18 cents per share — this corresponds to the expected range. Net revenue under GAAP exceeded expectations: $1.53 billion, while $1.45-1.5 billion was predicted.
Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI started on June 25, i.e., a few days before the end of the financial quarter. It turns out that these initial pre-orders have not yet allowed Take-Two to break even. However, the company noted growing interest in the game and an “exceptional start to pre-orders.”
Take-Two announced that it wrote off $43.4 million — they abandoned further development of an unannounced project that was being made by third-party developers. No details were disclosed.
They also reported on sales of the Red Dead Redemption franchise games. The total circulation of RDR approached 116 million copies sold, of which 87 million are accounted for by the second part. Total Grand Theft Auto sales are approaching 475 million copies, with GTA V accounting for 230 million copies.
Take-Two still predicts that in the next fiscal year — which includes the November release of GTA VI — revenue is expected to be at the level of $8 – $8.2 billion.
