Recently, developer Maxime THOMAS LE DEORE announced the release of an unofficial remake of Metal Gear Solid. He stated that he had been working on it for three years.

The author clarified that this is not a full remake, but rather a "tribute to the original." He invites players to try out the tutorial level, as well as two levels from the original MGS and boss battles:

This is my own vision, and I want to share this tribute with all Metal Gear Solid fans around the world. I hope you have as much fun playing this project as I had creating it.

The project was named "Metal Gear Solid Fan Remake" — the modder published a launch trailer.

Maxime THOMAS LE DEORE clarified that he does not intend to develop the project further, meaning Metal Gear Solid Fan Remake "will remain a demo and will not turn into a full game."

Not only fan remakes or remasters are being released, but also official projects. At the end of August this year, KONAMI is set to release the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2, which will include the following games from the franchise: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (HD Collection version), as well as bonus content – a digital soundtrack and Metal Gear: Ghost Babel.
