Dead Rising Developers Celebrate Franchise's 20th Anniversary - Fans Call for New Game
In August 2026, Dead Rising fans will celebrate the franchise's second anniversary. The developers also remembered the important date.
They posted a congratulatory message on social media and also presented celebratory art:
Thanks to all of you who smashed psychopaths with all sorts of weapons and survived despite the hordes of zombies surrounding you, the series was able to celebrate its 20th anniversary! And keep on smashing those zombies!
In Dead Rising, the main character, freelance journalist Frank West, finds himself in a city quarantined by the American army. The action unfolds in a giant shopping mall: Frank must survive, fending off zombies with various tools and weapons until help arrives.
Capcom has not yet published a teaser for a new installment. Some fans have urged the developers to make a hypothetical "Dead Rising 5."
The last new numbered installment, Dead Rising 4, was released in 2017. The game received "mixed" reviews on Steam, with a rating of 56%. Gamers at the time criticized both the story and the gameplay.
In 2024, Capcom successfully re-released the first part as Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. The updated version of Frank West's adventures received "very positive" reviews (80%) from players.
