Oblivion Remastered Surprises on Nintendo Switch 2. The Game Maintains 30 FPS
Initial tests of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2 show a stable 30 FPS in enclosed areas and only minor drops in the open world.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is set to release on Nintendo Switch 2 this week. After the technical issues of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, players feared that the situation on Nintendo's console would be even worse. The first test shows the opposite.
According to scarlet works, after installing the launch update, the game targets 30 FPS in docked mode and maintains this figure for most of the time. Enclosed areas – initial sewers, exploration, and combat – perform particularly well.
In the open world, slowdowns occur when loading the environment, which temporarily reduces fluidity. However, the problems are not serious enough to hinder gameplay.
Portable mode hardly reduces performance quality. In some locations, the game behaves almost the same as in docked mode. More noticeable drops occur near large cities, where the console has to load more world elements.
Oblivion Remastered also supports motion controls and mouse mode with separate sensitivity and button settings. Different control profiles can be saved.
The first test does not confirm fears of a failed port. The Switch 2 version has issues, but further updates may improve open-world loading.
