Black Myth: Wukong Creators Reject AI for Quality in New Game

News 0

Following the success of Black Myth: Wukong, Chinese developer Game Science is actively working on the next game in the series – Black Myth: Zhong Kui.

Fans were curious about the development pace and the use of generative AI. Yang Qi, co-founder of the studio and art director for the project, stated that the team does not plan to use AI at the conceptual and production stages. According to him, this is not due to a rejection of new technologies, but rather a desire to maintain a traditional authorial approach to art creation.

As an example, the developer cited director Christopher Nolan, who continues to use traditional cinematic methods despite the widespread use of digital effects. Game Science does not consider it necessary to follow technological trends for the sake of saving time and instead focuses on “authenticity, precision, and an organic creative process.”

Black Myth: Zhong Kui is currently in the early stages of development. Players have only been shown a conceptual CGI trailer and a special video for the Chinese New Year. The release is likely to take place around 2028.
