"Juicy": Nikita Buyanov Praised Gears of War: E-Day, While the Creator of the Original Criticized and Advised Modern Developers

Recently, the developers of Gears of War: E-Day launched beta testing. Early access to the beta was granted to players who had already pre-ordered, and access for everyone will be open on August 13.

Users on the network began sharing gameplay footage and screenshots. Battlestate Games boss Nikita Buyanov also noticed the posts on the social network. He clearly appreciated The Coalition's project, leaving a concise comment: "Juicy".

Escape from Tarkov fans noted that Nikita Buyanov is a "man of culture" and joked that now a shotgun from Gears of War: E-Day should be added to "Tarkov".

However, the creator of the original Gears of War, Cliff Bleszinski, criticized it. He immediately clarified that he hadn't played GoW in a long time (especially multiplayer) and his opinion "comes from watching a lot of Twitch streams and YouTube videos."

He noted that some people play multiplayer constantly bouncing off walls and using a shotgun:

There's a whole group of players in Gears PvP multiplayer who ONLY play this way: wall-bouncing and shotgunning. That's the only way they play. They use the cover-entry and cancel mechanic to traverse the map, creating an impromptu "surfing" mode. And they dominate. Is it interesting to watch? Of course. Is it interesting to perform? Yes, because it really requires some skill. Is it pleasant to watch? Absolutely. Does it make sense and work in the harsh world of multiplayer games? No.

Cliff explained that there is a "HUGE difference" between such "surfers" who rush around the map and people who play as intended (using cover and different weapons):

[This technique] ruins the game for everyone else who tries to play differently. Why even create all these amazing weapons and a cool cover system if a certain number of (undoubtedly skilled) players will just bypass the system and do this?

Such experienced players, Cliff explains, will easily dominate newcomers on release day and make online battles "unplayable and completely uninteresting."

The developer noted that if it were up to him, he would "weaken wall-bouncing as much as possible in the 'normal' PvP mode, and THEN create a separate playlist or mode where this exploit would be doubly enhanced."

Cliff also stated that he considers executions in Gears of War "a huge waste of time and money" because "no one uses them" in multiplayer.

Gears of War: E-Day is scheduled for release on October 6, 2026, but buyers of the premium edition will be able to jump into the game five days earlier.
