No Man's Sky Creators Celebrate Anniversary and Announce Cosmos Update
In August, Hello Games studio celebrated the anniversary of No Man's Sky. The space survival game has come a long way: at the start, the game was actively criticized, but the developers did not give up and were able to rework a lot. Now their project receives positive reviews and the authors actively release free updates.
Studio boss Sean Murray published an open letter and thanked the community for their support, and also noted that over the years the project has been expanded and received support for various platforms:
For any game to reach its tenth anniversary is impressive, and I think that’s especially true for No Man’s Sky. The fact that this year we’ve seen record player numbers since launch, and picked up TGA and BAFTA awards for Best Evolving Game, really speaks to the passion for the game from both our team and players. Over the last decade, No Man’s Sky players have joined us on another journey, one where we’ve evolved, expanded and deepened the game. With 40 major updates, all of them free, we’ve expanded our sandbox universe with base building, settlements, mechs, pets, new ships, expeditions, and rebuilt the entire universe multiple times. Along the way, support for Switch, Xbox, VR, PSVR, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox and other platforms has been added. In fact, No Man’s Sky is supported on about as many platforms as there are members on our team!
The creators of No Man's Sky published a celebratory video, at the end of which a teaser for Cosmos — the next major update — appears.
The authors have not yet revealed the release date and details of the update. As usual, it will be available for free.
