"Time to Sue Sony!": Gamers Launch Global Campaign Against PlayStation
The organizations DoesItPlay? and Stop Killing Games have announced their support for the lawsuit by Stichting Massaschade & Consument against Sony in a Dutch court, due to the company's complete control over prices in the PlayStation Store.
Sony has been under fire for several weeks due to its refusal to release new games on physical discs. Gamers are attacking PlayStation on social media and boycotting the company, which has not changed its plans.
Now, part of the community has decided to resort to legal action. DoesItPlay? and Stop Killing Games have announced their support for the lawsuit by Stichting Massaschade & Consument against Sony. The case is being heard in a Dutch court and concerns the company's complete control over prices in the PlayStation Store.
The organizers stated:
It's time to sue Sony! DoesItPlay? and Stop Killing Games announce that they support SM&C's lawsuit against Sony regarding the company's complete control over prices in the PlayStation Store. We are fully committed to supporting the case in the Dutch court.
SM&C must now prove that it truly represents the interests of gamers. PlayStation owners in the Netherlands are encouraged to officially join the case.
The organizers call the lawsuit just "one of many fronts" and promise new actions. Amidst Sony's abandonment of physical editions, the struggle could extend far beyond the Netherlands.
