Battlefield 6 is currently in its fourth season, and the developers are preparing for the release of the next update with a new batch of content. The Wake Island map will be added to the game, and Battlefield Studios decided to publish a trailer with a selection of gameplay footage.
The location should be familiar to franchise fans, as it has appeared in several games before. The developers clarified that while the spirit of the original has been preserved, the map has been adapted to the gameplay features of Battlefield 6:
Wake Island – a classic map in the series, first appearing in Battlefield 1942 and featured in Battlefield 3 and Battlefield V – has been updated for Battlefield 6 to account for the scale and game systems of the new installment. While the overall terrain and spirit of the original map are preserved, this version will truly test your skills with improvements in naval combat. New features include the Shipwreck point of interest located in the center of the map, as well as new destruction opportunities.
Players on Wake Island will be able to visit an aircraft carrier, jump into a helicopter, and head into battle. Ground and naval vehicles will also be actively used on this map.
The update for Battlefield 6 is scheduled for release on August 18, and the game will also host a "Top Gun" franchise event featuring aerial vehicles.
