Russian "Sparta 2035" Banned from Purchase on Steam Outside the CIS - Now a New Version Released for the International Market

Last year, the Russian tactical game "Sparta 2035" was released on PC via Steam. For a time, the game was available in many regions, but then sales were restricted to Russia and CIS countries.

The developers then announced an international version of "Sparta 2035" called Warhounds. They explained their decision by stating that they lacked the resources to adapt the game for all markets:

We initially planned to separate the Russian and international releases. This is primarily due to the fact that developing the game for our market consumed all our efforts, and we did not spend them on localization or international marketing, which are currently complex and extremely labor-intensive tasks.

Warhounds is still a turn-based tactical game about an elite squad of mercenaries. The creators cite XCOM and Jagged Alliance as sources of inspiration. Players will have to assemble a squad of mercenaries and carry out various operations. The game is also available in the Russian region.

The developers' plan clearly worked — "Sparta 2035" had a peak online player count of 223, while Warhounds exceeded 700 players on its release day.
