Players in Knytt Classic can expect many locations to explore.

Recently, Bit Kid reminded gamers about a classic indie game that was released many years ago. Now Knytt has returned in an updated format.

The developers reached out to the community and talked about the features of the Knytt Classic version — the game is given away for free:

The classic indie game returns! It's been 20 years since the visionary Swedish indie developer Nifflas (Rhythm Doggo, Ynglet) released Knytt — the first game in the atmospheric platformer series. Created with the participation of a group of enthusiastic co-authors from internet forums, this game was distributed for free, published online in 2006. Subsequently, Knytt Stories (2007) and Knytt Underground (2012) were released.

The story centers on a peaceful creature, Knytt, who was abducted by aliens. The ship crashes and the protagonist has to explore an “atmospheric, labyrinth-like planet”.

Knytt Classic offers players over 1500 screens to explore in the original game and three bonus modes. It supports modern Windows and Linux systems, as well as Steam Deck. Gamers can unlock 13 achievements.

Currently, Bit Kid is developing the retro-style action-platformer WOLFHOUND, and Nifflas is developing the platformer Rhythm Doggo.
