CS:GO Source Code Leaked. This is Bad News for Players

The CS:GO source code from March 2019 has been leaked online - the most recent version in the history of such leaks, which players fear could give cheaters new ways to bypass VAC protection.

Despite almost three years passing since the release of Counter-Strike 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is once again in the spotlight.

Files containing the game's source code from March 2019 have been leaked online. Valve has not yet officially confirmed the authenticity of the data, but the community preliminarily considers the leak to be genuine.

If confirmed, this would be the most recent version of the CS source code ever to become publicly available. For comparison, the 2020 leak contained a significantly older version of the engine from 2017.

Interestingly, the new archive contains full files for the "Danger Zone" mode. In the 2017 code version, it existed only as an unfinished test project. In Counter-Strike 2, this mode is no longer used.

The leak is also dangerous for players. By gaining access to the source code, cheaters can find ways to bypass VAC protection, which could create serious problems for CS servers.
