Recently, fans of The Witcher were reminded of the multiplayer game based on The Witcher franchise, known by the codename "Project Sirius." However, the reason is not very joyful: information has emerged about a new round of layoffs.

According to Kotaku journalists, another 18 specialists have left the team. Before this round of layoffs, the media reminds us, 83 people were working on Project Sirius, meaning the current number of developers is 65.

CD Projekt RED gave IGN a comment on the situation and confirmed the dismissal of four employees in the Boston office and five in the Warsaw office, while nine employees can apply for work on other projects.

A CDPR representative explained that the team size was adjusted "in line with the project's needs at this stage of development." Project Sirius currently has no specific release date or window.

This project by The Molasses Flood studio was initially presented in 2022 as a co-op game, and in 2023, Project Sirius was rebooted — at that time, 29 specialists were laid off.

Currently, CDPR is developing a new installment of The Witcher 4 franchise, a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, and an expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
