In March 2026, the Finnish studio Order Of Meta introduced Cargo Hunters. This is a single-player, third-person extraction shooter where players are invited to take control of humanoid robots and go search for resources on a dying Earth.
Over the past few months, the project has received several updates, found a publisher in the form of HypeTrain Digital, well-known to many players, and the creators of Cargo Hunters have also begun public testing of the game's co-op mode.
According to the story, in the world of Cargo Hunters, global warming led to the melting of Antarctic glaciers and the spread of superviruses that were hidden in the glaciers. Many were killed, and some rich and powerful people fled Earth and are now paying corporate and private contractors any money to find and deliver necessary items from Earth.
The Cargo Hunters page on Steam is available at the following link. The game is still in "early access". Updates with new enemies (pursuer assault trooper, pursuer squad commander), items, weapons, and various improvements are planned for Q3-Q4 of this year.
Next year, the developers plan to add new enemies, items, a sniper boss, and additional "core mechanics", as well as improve enemy AI and open access to the first floor of the new location "Bunker".
