Recently, notifications about the future of these MMO project versions in the West appeared on the Lost Ark and Throne and Liberty websites.
It became known that Amazon Game Studios will no longer be responsible for these games. The projects are planned to be transferred to their developers. It is expected that the Western version of Throne and Liberty will be transferred to FirstSpark Games and NC Soft in the fourth quarter of 2026, and Lost Ark will go to Smilegate in the first quarter of next year.
Both projects, published in the West by Amazon Game Studios, were popular at release, but over time the audience significantly decreased.
The Western version of Lost Ark previously showed an impressive online peak of 1.3 million players on Steam, but recently it has been within 10 thousand.
Throne and Liberty's record online peak was just over 336 thousand, and in the last month it has been holding at 6 – 13 thousand players.
This decision to abandon Western versions of games that have lost popularity generally aligns with Amazon's current course of action. Last year, mass layoffs in the gaming division and Twitch were announced.
Lost Ark and Throne and Liberty are officially represented in Russia by another company and are distributed in Russian digital services.
