Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord will soon have a serious competitor. Raw Power Games announced that Chronicles: Medieval will be released in Early Access on PC in early 2027. The developers needed additional time to refine the game.
Conceptually, the project resembles Mount & Blade: the player will command armies and personally participate in realistic battles. After battles, one can freely explore regions of medieval Europe and trade with merchants in cities.
In a new video, the developers talked about army management. It includes core fighters with high morale, poorly trained conscripts, and mercenaries. The latter usually have low morale and require high maintenance costs.
Each fighter has a set of characteristics that can be improved through a progression system similar to Mount & Blade 2. At the same time, the authors promise 100% realism and real medieval powers, including France and England.
Chronicles: Medieval will be shown at gamescom 2026, so new gameplay materials are expected soon.
