The Witcher 3's Geralt Voice Actor Strongly Criticizes AI: "I'd Sue Everyone"

Doug Cockle, who gave Geralt of Rivia his recognizable gravelly voice in the English version of "The Witcher," spoke out strongly against the growing use of AI.

In an interview with Polygon, the actor revealed that his voice is being massively stolen by generative programs and used without his knowledge or consent. Cockle admitted: if he had enough money and influence, he would not hesitate to sue every company that creates algorithms based on his work.

He is particularly concerned about the possibility of forcing voice synthesizers to utter racist, xenophobic, and radical political statements in Geralt's name. According to the actor, this harms the hero's image and his own reputation.

Cockle has played Geralt since the first game in the series in 2007. He believes that the entertainment industry should be more active in opposing the use of artists' work to train AI without their consent.
