Bethesda warned of an upcoming update release for Skyrim and Fallout 4 - players fear mod breakage

News 0

Currently, Bethesda Game Studios is working on The Elder Scrolls VI and has new Fallout games planned, but the developers haven't forgotten about the older games in these franchises either. They recently warned the community about plans to release updates for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, as well as Fallout 4, which remain popular to this day.

Fallout 4 will receive the update first — the release is scheduled for August 18 (Tuesday). The developers have not yet published the patch notes but clarified that this update will focus on improvements to Creations (the official modding system):

As a precautionary measure before these updates, we recommend players to check their saves if you haven't done so in a while, or manually save your load order. Once your load order is saved, you will be able to re-download the entire list of Creations modifications when the update becomes available.

Bethesda Game Studios also noted that they are "working on an update for Skyrim." The developers did not specify a concrete release date or window. They promised to share details "soon."

Some connoisseurs of TES V: Skyrim modifications, like user Synth Potato, are not thrilled about the prospect of another update that could break something: "AN UPDATE FOR SKYRIM? For God's sake, please stop updating and breaking our load orders."
