Recently, developer Burak Dabak once again reminded about his space shooter-RPG SpaceBourne 2. He hadn't released updates since spring and now decided to explain the reason for this pause.
Over the past few months, Burak Dabak and his team have been working on a number of important technical improvements related to the further development of the game. One of the most ambitious tasks was an attempt to port SpaceBourne 2 from Unreal Engine 4 to the modern Unreal Engine 5.
However, as the developer explained, this was not possible due to the current project structure and "a number of technical difficulties":
We spent a lot of time testing and working on this transition. However, due to the current project structure and a number of technical difficulties encountered during the process, we ultimately concluded that continuing the migration would lead to too much instability and entail excessive risks for further development.
As a result, Burak Dabak decided to continue developing SpaceBourne 2 on the current technological base, and the authors will focus on further developing the game.
The development team has been expanded, which will allow for more effective bug fixing, improvements, and preparation of future content. The team's current priority is to release a major update that will include fixes for bugs and various issues reported by players.
The release of the update for SpaceBourne 2 is expected "in the very near future." After that, an update with new content is planned.
