"Bombora" is working on a book about Minecraft: the cubic world that conquered the planet

News 0

The "Bombora" publishing house announced that it has started working on a book about Minecraft – a sandbox that has long ceased to be just a game and has become a cultural code for an entire generation.

Its author is Artem Frolov. Previously, he wrote about video games and game design for the online magazine Skillbox Media, and now he collaborates with the magazine "Mir Fantastiki".

From the book, readers will learn why Minecraft became the main indie game in history, how Markus Persson created an Infiniminer clone, how it grew into the most popular game in the world, and how it eventually ended up with Microsoft.

Most of the attention in the publication is given to the mechanics that turned Minecraft into an ideal platform for creativity:

  • Procedurally generated world, where each playthrough is unique;
  • Building without the usual laws of physics;
  • Survival mode that motivates exploration and building;
  • Vast toolkit for mods, which expanded the already gigantic sandbox;
  • C418's ambient soundtrack, which has become synonymous with nostalgia for many.

The team is not yet ready to announce when the book will be released and how much it will cost to pre-order.
