Cyberpunk 2077 Quest Director Sheds a Tear - The Game Turns 2077 Days Old, and He Recalls CDPR's Path to Redemption

Much has changed since the release of the troubled 1.0 version.

This August, Cyberpunk 2077 celebrates a unique anniversary. 2077 days have passed since its release, and the project's quest director decided to mark this date.

Paweł Sasko addressed the community and once again added tear (of joy) emojis to his message:

My dears, 2077 days have passed since the release of Cyberpunk 2077. Oh, what a journey it has been. I often recall the first announcement, the release, all the excitement as the game's rating slowly climbed with each patch, and that feeling of satisfaction when the [Phantom Liberty] expansion came out. Madness and magic.

Upon release, Cyberpunk 2077 received scathing reviews due to numerous technical issues. However, CD Projekt RED did not give up and began releasing patches. By August 2026, the project had garnered "very positive" reviews on Steam — an 86% rating after almost a million user reviews.

Currently, Paweł Sasko holds the position of game director for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. The project does not yet have a specific release date, and the developers have not yet revealed details.

CD Projekt RED is also preparing projects for The Witcher: a full-fledged new franchise and an expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
