The Witcher 3: The WAR Project creators fired Vernon Roche's voice actor after "gross misconduct" - now looking for a new voice
Modders believe the replacement will not significantly impact their work schedule.
Not all content made it into the final version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. During development, the CD Projekt RED team discarded some ideas, but traces remained in the game files, which enthusiasts are now exploring and trying to restore lost story content, etc.
Recently, modders announced that a decision had been made to replace Vernon Roche's voice actor. The reason cited was an "incident," the details of which were not disclosed.
After this, they organized new auditions for the role of Vernon — all the character's lines will be re-recorded:
Grit, whom you may know as the voice actor for Vernon Roche, has been removed from the project due to a serious incident involving gross misconduct. In the interest of those affected, the details of this incident remain confidential, so please do not ask us about them. This means we are reopening the audition channel for Roche to find a new actor for our brave Temerian commander. Auditions will only be open for a week, as Roche is a significant role, and replacing the actor with subsequent re-recording of all lines will take time.
The creators of The WAR Project believe that replacing Vernon Roche's voice actor will not significantly impact their current work schedule on the project:
[…] I would like to apologize to everyone affected by this incident and emphasize that we absolutely do not tolerate inappropriate behavior. We believe in an open and friendly server, but this is no excuse for inappropriate actions that can make participants feel uncomfortable. If you ever feel that someone on the server is behaving inappropriately — whether on the server or in private messages — do not hesitate to contact us.
The demo version of The WAR Project for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is distributed free of charge via Nexus Mods.
