After 6 years, Darkest Dungeon received an expansion with two classes and new mechanics

News 1

Red Hook Studios returned to the first Darkest Dungeon in August and introduced the The Fire's Edge expansion. The previous DLC for the game was released six years ago.

The authors decided to add a couple of new classes from Darkest Dungeons II to the game — the Runaway and the Duelist:

Clad in rags and armed with a glowing rod, the homeless Runaway prefers fire and stealth over open confrontation. The Duelist, on the other hand, loves to face challenges. The holes from a rapier are clearly visible on her embroidered cape. But no one has yet managed to hold their ground against her sharp blade.

The developers also noted that the Duelist maintains parry, switching between two combat stances — defensive and offensive.

In addition, The Fire's Edge includes three new areas for the Hamlet — the Duello Academy, a workshop, and an archaeologists' camp. New mechanics for artifacts were introduced, such as transformation and a limit on the number of uses.
