Subnautica 2 received new mechanics, characters, and improvements - update 1.2 released
Developers added voice chat and more.
Unknown Worlds Entertainment studio continues to develop Subnautica 2 in "early access". Recently, the developers returned and released update 1.2, which includes a number of useful features and technical improvements.
For example, cross-platform voice chat has appeared. However, it has a peculiarity: the further players are from each other, the worse they hear each other. Voice chat supports several operating modes: always on; walkie-talkie mode; always off.
A "tracking tag" has also appeared. Players will be able to place it in portable objects, such as lockers, to use them as short-range beacons. If the tag is in hand or inventory during reprinting, the black box detection range increases.
It is now possible to revive other players before reprinting. After revival, the player will retain their equipment and receive a small supply of oxygen. Knocked-down players can also immediately choose to reprint and respawn in their assigned biocapsule.
Some other new features and improvements:
- Added emotes "Hello", "Applause", "Thumbs Up", "Thumbs Down", and "Disapproval". Emotes are selected via a new radial menu. They can be used both underwater and on land, and any in-game action will interrupt the animation.
- Players can now directly exchange items from their inventory with each other.
- New characters — Jena and Grace — as well as two new color schemes have been added to the character editor.
- Interaction text for biocapsule upgrades has been changed to more accurately explain their purpose.
- Player upgrade points now emit a distinctive sound signal if they are nearby.
- When upgrading a biocapsule, the screen now flashes slightly.
- Added flinch animations and corresponding visual effects for Bone Shark, Ram Fish, Biter, Needlefish, Gulper, and Twin Sitaray.
- Bullet Squid behavior has been changed: they now deal more damage, but their attacks can be dodged... sometimes.
- Added new animations for the Coral Crab.
- Updated model and animations for the Plague Parasite.
- Improved the tentacles of the Ring Jellyfish.
- More portable racks have appeared on early wrecks and in human-made locations.
- The effect of the Reflected Wave Resonator has been changed: it now stuns creatures instead of driving them away.
- The stun duration for creatures by the Sonic Resonator has been increased to 10 seconds.
